VIRUS SCAN: McAfee Virus Scan is one the most popular virus scanning software package available today. McAfee is designed to load into memory each time the computer boots, and if and when a virus attempts to infect you computer, have the capacity of detecting that virus and removing it from the file and/or system.                                       Norton Antivirus Anti Virus NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2000  : Norton antivirus 20006.0 is the latest edition of the Norton Antivirus protection utilities, with improved support over the previous version of Norton Antivirus, including features such as scanning e-mail, files within zip files, and all other major executable files for viruses automatically when running. If I format or erase my hard drive will it remove a virus? If computer is infected with a virus formatting or erasing the hard disk drive drive and starting over will almost always remove...

Computer Virus  Virus :   One of the biggest fears among new computer users is being infected by a computer virus or programs designed to destroy  their personal data. Viruses are malicious software programs that have been designed by other computer users to cause destruction and havoc on a computer and spread themselves to other computers where they can repeat the process.  A computer virus is a software program that was first written Rich Skrenta in 1982 who was 15-year old high school student. Known as the Elk cloner this virus spread to other computers by monitoring the floppy drive and copying itself to any floppy diskette that was inserted into the computer. Once a floppy diskette became infected it would infect all other computers that disk was inserted into, each computer that was infected would then infect every floppy diskettes inserted it. A computer that was infected would also display a short poem on every 50 booth. Computer users can help protect themse...

INPUT/OUTPUT DEVICES  The physical components of a computer are known as hardware. such physical components may be electronic. electrical. magnetic. mechanical or optical. some such parts are microprocessor, integrated circuit (ICs), hard disk, floppy disks, color monitor. keyboard. printer. plotter etc. Input device :  An input device is an electromechanical device, which accepts data from the outside word, and translates them into a from. which the computer can interpret several input devices are available today They can be broadly classified into the following categories. 1. Keyboard  2. Point and draw devices 3. Data scanning devices KEYBOARD DEVICES: Keyboard devices are the most commonly used input devices today They allow data entry into a computer system by pressing a set of keys (labeled buttons), which are neatly mounted on a keyboard, which is connected to the computer system. The most popular keyboard used today is the 101-keys QWERTY keyboard. MOUSE: Mo...

SECONDARY STORAGE DEVICES Sequential and direct- Access Devices :-   Several different devices can be used as secondary storage device, but the one selected for a particular application, mainly depends upon how the stored information needs to be accessed. There are two methods of accessing information-sequential or serial access, and direct or random access. A sequencing –access storage device is one in which the arrival at the location desired may be preceded by sequencing through other location, so that access time varies according to location . in other words, information on a sequential-access device can only be retrieved in the same sequence in which it is stored. Sequential processing is quite suitable for such applications like preparation of monthly pay slips, or monthly electricity bills, etc. These direct-access devices are also called random-access devices, because the literally available at random ,i.e., it is available in any order. Hence, a random-access storage d...

Memory System:  A memory system is a very simple system exhibits a wide range of technology types.  Random Access Memory (RAM):   RAM is the place in a computer where the operating system, application programs, and data in current usage are kept so that they can be quickly accessed by the processor. RAM  reads and writes faster than the other kind of storage in a computer like the hard disk, and CD-ROM. However , the data in RAM   stored temporarily till the computer is running. when the power of computer cut then RAM loses its data when you switch on your computer, the operation system and other files are once again loaded into RAM, usually from your hard disk RAM is known as 'Random Access Memory' because any storage location can be accessed randomly. RAM is organized and controlled in a way that enables data to be  stored  and retrieved directly to specific locations. In addition to disk, floppy disk, and CD-ROM storage, another important from ...
